Masculinity is often equated with strength, assertiveness and rationality - but true masculinity is much more than that. At a time where old role models are breaking down and new expectations are emerging, it is more important than ever to find an authentic balance between strength and compassion. But what does it really mean to be a powerful and present man - beyond clichés and societal guidelines?


Myths about masculinity - what really matters

🚫 “A real man shows no emotions.”

✅ Wrong. Emotional control does not mean suppression - true strength lies in consciously controlling and using emotions.


🚫 “Masculinity means always being dominant and strong.”

✅ Wrong. True masculinity is shown in the ability to adapt flexibly and use both strength and compassion according to the situation.


🚫 “If you're insecure, you're not a real man.”

✅ Wrong. Insecurity is a natural possession


Why balance is key

Every man carries both masculine and feminine qualities within himself. These opposites are often described by the terms Eros (the receptive, creative, connecting) and Logos (the structured, goal-oriented, analytical).

The true art of masculinity lies in recognizing both sides within oneself and consciously balancing them.

  • Eros (feminine quality): Embodies emotion, creativity, connection and sensitivity. Its strengths lie in empathy, intuition and flexibility. However, when unbalanced, it can lead to disorientation, over-adaptation or indecisiveness.

  • Logos (masculine quality): Stands for clarity, structure, assertiveness and rationality. Its strengths are determination, focus and leadership. When unbalanced, however, it can turn into harshness, isolation or control.


An authentic man combines logos and eros by consciously switching between structure and feeling, focus and adaptability, rationality and compassion, depending on the situation and challenge.


Many men oscillate between two extremes: either strength is confused with toughness, or they suppress their natural power to appear “soft” and well-adjusted. But true masculinity is not either strength or compassion – it is the ability to balance both.

  • Strength is not aggression, but steadiness.

  • Compassion is not weakness, but deep understanding and clarity.

  • Presence does not mean dominance, but rather conscious awareness of the moment.


A man who combines these qualities exudes a calm, natural authority – regardless of whether he is in a leadership position, in a partnership or responsible for himself.


Dealing with anger, insecurity & expectations

A central issue for many men is how to deal with difficult emotions, especially anger and insecurity. Often, men learn early on to suppress their emotions or to channel them into destructive patterns. However, emotions are neither enemies nor weaknesses – they are valuable signals that can be consciously used.

  • Anger as a source of energy: Rather than suppressing anger or acting on it in an uncontrolled way, it can be used in a targeted way to gain clarity and set boundaries.

  • Insecurity as a growth spurt: Insecurity is not a sign of weakness, but an indicator of potential for development.

  • Questioning social expectations: Not all expectations placed on men are reasonable. Conscious questioning helps to develop an authentic self-image.

In technology, there are systems that react to external stimuli and regulate themselves – just as we can deal with our emotions. A well-calibrated control system recognizes overload and adjusts without being damaged. In the same way, a man can learn to consciously control his emotional reactions instead of being controlled by them.

  • Physical training to strengthen body & mind: Strength training, functional movements or martial arts not only promote physical strength, but also mental resilience and discipline. Physical training is like optimizing a system – it strengthens the basic structure, improves functionality and increases resilience.

  • Cold stimuli for emotional resilience: Cold stimuli act like a stress test – cold showers and ice baths train the ability to remain calm in challenging situations, to consciously regulate emotions and to build stress resistance.

  • Breathwork Journeys for emotional processing & clarity: Breathwork journeys are like a reset – intensive breathing sessions help release suppressed emotions, overcome inner blocks and create a deeper connection to yourself.

  • Respiratory techniques for inner calm: Deep, conscious breathing helps regulate emotions and stay calm.
